 The city of Cancún was planned with the same creativity as the Hotel Zone using a design that called for huge residential blocks, called supermanzanas with interconnecting walkways and gardens. Major thoroughfares and avenues were named after great Mayan cities; the cross streets after the region’s animal and plant life, geographical features and places throughout Mexico.
