 Lagoons at Cobá
|

 Deep in the jungle and clustered around a series of shallow lakes, about 41 km from Tulum, lies the ancient city of Cobá. This ceremonial center flourished during the Classic and Post-Classic periods, at its peak its influence extended over 99 km2. The park at Cobá covers 6 km2 of the city.
