Quinta Avenida (fifth avenue) is the center of town and closed to all but foot traffic for half its length. A colorful enclave of restaurants, cafes, dive shops, one-of-a-kind boutiques, craft shops, smallish hotels and European-style B&Bs, La Quinta and its many cross streets is the grid of Playa’s social and business life, the heart of its nightlife. Street musicians, artists, dancers and other impromptu-type performers such as mariachi bands and Yucatecan trios are a common sight, day and night.
