 Playa is one of the fastest growing communities in Mexico, its thriving tourism sector a magnet for people from all over the country in search of employment and a new way of life. The town is also the home of a flourishing expat community, particularly Europeans, who fall in love with its laid-back Caribbean ambiance.
Mexican and foreign corporations and developers have also moved into the area, building deluxe hotels, restaurants, stores, bars and other tourism-related facilities, creating jobs, and transforming Playa into a truly international resort.
Despite the town's continued growth, a short walk from the bustling streets lie secluded beaches and small bays with few people in sight.
