What to do in Playa

The list of what to do in Playa is long and varied. You can sunbathe, windsurf, sail, kayak and skydive. Dive shops offer diving and snorkeling trips to the reefs in the Cozumel Marine Park and sites along the Riviera Maya. Sportfishing is excellent in the Cozumel Channel, and boats and equipment are available at local marinas. There’s the nearby jungle and its cenotes to explore, an aviary at Playacar and the Tulum and Cobá ruins (post-Classic and Classic-post-Classic) just down the road. Restaurant hopping is not such a bad idea either. The range of cuisine is almost overwhelming: Italian restaurants vie with Mexican, Yucatecan, seafood, Argentinian, Japanese and French. There’s a plethora of natural eateries, salad and espresso bars, and so on ad infinitum. You could stay for three months and eat in a different place every day.
