 The village of San Juan is located 16 km from Cobá. Its inhabitants are farmers who recently joined together in a grand adventure toward greater financial freedom. Working with a group called Fundación Maya Kuxkinal they’ve created a program called San Juan, Cultura Viva (San Juan, A Living Cultural Experience).
The concept is to turn San Juan into a living theater with scenes acted at different sites around the village. The tableaux reveal aspects of Mayan culture, traditions and legends.
The goal of Maya Kuxkinal is to involve more villages in the program and give them an opportunity to preserve their culture and benefit from doing so. The San Juan Cultural Experience is available as a day trip, for more information contact Maya Kuxkinal at (998) 887-6666.
