 Evidence of the ancient Maya’s interest in the area can be seen at the Classic period sites of Dzibanché-Kinichná and Kohunlich, Oxtankah and Chakanbakan. Chetumal is also conveniently located for side-trips to the archaeological sites in Campeche and the northern reaches of Belize and Guatemala.
