Cancún Museum

Located next to the Convention Center in the Hotel Zone, the museum operates under the auspices of the Instituto Nacional de Antropología e Historia. It boasts a good collection of exhibits pertaining to the Mayan presence in Quintana Roo. Artifacts on display include the stone and stucco head from El Rey, clay figurines of men, women and animals from the island of Jaina in Campeche, stelae unearthed at Cobá and San Gervasio on Cozumel and incense burners from Dzibanché, carved jade, stone carvings, rings, bracelets and necklaces made from carved shells and pot shards.

The museum frequently stages exhibitions and art shows by local and nationally acclaimed artists.
