 Whether it’s business or pleasure, visitors can count on around 140 hotels with over 26,200 rooms to suit every taste and budget. Cancún hosts around three million tourists a year with more hotels planned for future development. Twenty percent of properties are Gran Turismo or deluxe, Mexico's highest category, exceeding even five-star standards. Luxurious beachfront properties, all-inclusive resorts, family oriented hotels, conference and golf resorts, and private condominiums fill the 14-mile long Hotel Zone, overlooking both the open Caribbean and the Nichupté Lagoon. In addition to famous-name Mexican hotels, prestigious European, North American and Japanese chains have properties in Cancún. Beachfront hotels have the highest rates and cheaper accommodation is available in the vicinity of the Cancún Golf Course and in downtown Cancún. Room services in downtown hotels range from the bare minimum (hot water and ceiling fans) to full amenities such as air-conditioning, pools, gyms, restaurants and bars. An easy-to-use bus system provides affordable transportation to and from the beach area.
