 Cancún's bar scene offers an earlier start to the evening, less crowds, and generally no cover charge. Big, TV screen sports bars, happy hour at hotel lobby bars, spectacular ocean or lagoon-front bars, rock or movie memorabilia bars, plus theme restaurant-bars serve up cocktails for any mood or occasion. The party hearty set prefer bars with live music, dancing waiters, hip disc jockeys, crazy drinking contests and shots of tequila provided by roving waitresses. In downtown Cancún, visitors can experience real Mexican cantinas (bars) with complimentary botanas (snacks) as well as a variety of less touristy restaurant bars. Your choice of music ranges from rock to reggae, mellow jazz, guitar, string quartets and solo pianists.
