Folk dances

During your stay, you might see Mexican folk dances performed as part of a dinner show or a Fiesta Mexicana theme night in a hotel. They are part of the nation’s heritage; every region has its own dance, some date from the pre-Hispanic period or show clear Spanish influence, and others are lively renditions of later European dances such as the polka. Mexico does indeed cross the stage in a spectacle of song, music and dance. The most famous dances are the Jarabe Tapatio (Jalisco), the Yaqui Deer Dance (Sonora), the Dance of the Viejitos (Michoacán) and La Bamba from Veracruz, which is performed by graceful women in lacy white dresses.

Xcaret Park stages a nightly Mexican theme show featuring a variety of colorful dances from all over the country and more than 250 performers.
