 Mexico's true language is music. Mariachis, Yucatecan trios and marimba are standard for the region, though Mariachi is the quintessential Mexican sound. Hire them on the spot along Yaxchilán Ave, Downtown, where they congregate nightly. The cost of a serenade is agreed after a session of bargaining which takes place when the musicians state their initial fee. When the singers approach your table ask them how much they charge per song, you may think that the serenade is free.
