 Cenote

 Cenotes and underground rivers flowing towards the sea are found throughout the Riviera Maya. Considered sacred sites by the ancient Maya, cenotes are now a major area attraction. Some local companies offer jungle tours which include a visit to a cenote and a spot of snorkeling. Cenote diving is dangerous and should only be done by qualified speleologists, and as a member of a tour led by a local dive master.
