 The lovely inlet of Paamul is 15 km (10 mins) past Playa del Carmen, and 85 south of Cancún. A half moon of turquoise sea surrounded by jungle, one-time home of manatees and sea turtles, Paamul offers bungalows and campsites for backpackers and recreational vehicles, and is rumored to have the best seafood restaurant on the coast. Frightened off by all the activity the manatees are long gone, but the turtles return every summer to lay their eggs in the sand.
