 Tourist services are on the increase in Playa del Carmen, on a par with the annual number of visitors to the popular beach destination. Finding a place to stay in Playa is never a problem, there are a variety of options in all price ranges and their number is growing all the time: 3,000 hotel rooms went up over the last two years. There are deluxe and five-star beachfront resorts with all the services, economical city hotels, inns, guest houses and waterfront cabañas or bungalows. Some of the larger hotels are all-inclusive and their rates include transport, room, meals, drinks and excursions; smaller hotels often offer European style bed and breakfast plans.
Located south of the pier, Playacar is the site of most of the largest hotels and there are several tropical-style bungalow and villa complexes to the north of town.
