 The Museo de la Cultura Maya (Museum of Mayan Culture) offers a thorough exposé of the civilization that put Quintana Roo on the map. Exhibits cover Mayan history and the culture’s ceramic and apicultural traditions. The Museo de la Maqueta features a scale model of Payo Obispo, created by Luis Rehinard Macliberty, as it appeared in the 1930s when the streets were lined with colorful wooden houses built in the style of the British colonies in the Caribbean. Chetumal also has a City Museum.
