Traveling means learning….. we invite you to visit the sites that enhance the natural, cultural and historic wealth of the Mexican Caribbean, and learn more about it.
Quintana Roo boasts lush forests, a tropical climate and a great variety of wildlife; its coastline has beautiful reefs, cays, lagoons and islands. In addition, it has protected natural areas and a great number of cenotes, the only source of freshwater on the peninsula.
The first settlements on the Yucatan Peninsula date back to 500 to 300 before Christ. Nowadays, we can find a great variety of Mayan archaeological sites, many of them still unexplored, which reveal the importance of the commercial route in the Caribbean.
Nowadays, the Mayan culture is present through its people and customs. The majority of the State population lives in the most developed urban areas such as Cancun, Chetumal, Cozumel and Playa del Carmen. The State is mainly dedicated to tourism and related activities such as commerce.
